A Lonely Pier

A lonely pier in a blue landscape. I shot this one in a late evening light, which gives the image its blue glow. There's even snow at the mountains, that we totally lack here in Finland right now!

Nordic city lights.

City lights. Here's an urban landscape from Scandinavia. I walked up this high bridge to catch the hectic lights of afternoon traffic with my Nikon D610. And the pictures came out pretty nice.

Afternoon seascape. Another shot from northern Norway. The sun was up only a short while but I was privileged of getting a glimpse of it during this blue afternoon moment.

The beauty of Arctic nature in Tromsø, Norway. I shot this picture just a couple of weeks ago. The Arctic light is just mesmerizing, don't you think?

The Auroras started dancing again at the sky last night. They weren't though as strong as they have been lately, but still there was a lot to see!

Super moon!

This is how the "super moon" looked like in northern Finland this morning. I very seldom do double exposures, but now I gave it a go. I blended two different shots in Photoshop to create this dreamy scene that you see in the first picture. And it came out quite nice!

Autumn night full of light

Sometimes they say that it's cold and dark in the north. It isn't that dark if you happen to gaze up in the sky. The Auroras will light the sky with such a beauty, that no city lights could ever beat them! These photos I took a couple of nights ago at our summerhouse. The surface of the lake reflected the stars and the colors like a mirror.

Sunset at the archipelago

Nice shot from last night. We went out kayaking with some friends at the archipelago of Raahe, and the light was great right after sunset. The sea was calming down and I was able to catch this nice scene from the island of Kalla.

Tranquility

Fishing boats at a small harbor in Raahe. This shot was taken about a year ago at night time. There was some fog coming from the sea and the moment was very tranquil.

A bit of something from past winter. The snow nicely softens the scene giving it a frosty and powdery feel.

On the edge of the universe

There was a great display of the auroras a couple of days ago here in northern Finland. I had an opportunity to stay up all night taking pictures of this magical burst of colors. This picture was taken at 1:30 a.m. and it was quite cold to stand at the seashore with my camera. But it was worth it!

Mysterious misty forest

Mist in the woods of northern Finland. The fog was very dense at times while shooting these landscapes. I consider it a privilege to wander around in this beauty of nature. I'm happy that I was able to catch these magical moments!
